The Centre of Light, Petaluma,, a metaphysical book, art, jewelry shop and centre of events announces its introduction of Judaic Items and Israeli Artifacts North of the Golden Gate.
Launching its second year of presentations, and freshly landed from 10 days of shopping for merchandise in Israel, proprietor, Lisa Osina is launching a Judaic section to the Centre of Light.
The new merchandise includes Mazoozes, Chamsas and other Israeli decorations in ceramics, ceramics, silver, silk and pewter. The Hand of Fatima is a middle eastern good luck and a protection piece against the evil eye."I found a bunch of key rings with some very unique Chamsas; the symbol has been completely absorbed into Israel made jewelry and decoration." says Osina.
The Mazooses are all different; they are scroll less as this is the latest trend in Israel. You go yourself to your own rabbi and ask for a scroll. No one sold scrolls in the Mazoozes. Amongst other things, are two silk tapestries which would compliment a wall or a table.
Osina also visited Mt. Adir in the Western Galilee, which, once underwater during prehistoric times, the mountain erupted and left a beach of shells, abalones, coral and stones of Elijah on its mountaintops. “We brought back a sampling for the shop and have decided to sell some of them.” says Lisa.
The Centre of Light is now home to EarthTemple crystals chosen by David Janakos. David exhibited all summer at Petaluma’s Farmers Market and residents will now have an opportunity to purchase these exquisite pieces during the winter months. Also, new to the Centre are custom made crystal bags by Redhawk of Oklahoma. Redhawk’s crystal bags, each one with custom color, beading and design, have rabbit fur linings and are made in a sacred way with love. The purchase of a bag of this type includes a telephonic consultation with Redhawk so that each bag is made personally for each person. Visit the shop to see these bags, and a story board describing Redhawks process of creation!
The Centre of Light, a centre for new thought, and provider of sacred space, is open by appointment and by event during the week and for general business on at the weekend. Drumming circle assembles on most Thursday evenings around 5:00 pm. Interested parties are encouraged to call Lisa Osina at 415.601.2572. A full calendar of events and menu of services is available on the new website www.merkaz-or.com or check the display window at the shop for the latest news.

A Call to Practitioners!!
The Centre of Light, a metaphysical book, art, jewelry shop and centre of events has undergone a transformation and entered the internet community with a new website! Starting Oct. 1, the Centre will concentrate on accommodating practitioners, providing them with a sacred space to work, both with their clients and for themselves. Lisa Osina, proprietor, says “The Centre sits empty during the week due to my other professional commitments. Since, our makeover the space cries out for people and gatherings, it needs to be shared with the community on a full time basis.”
Over the past year, the Centre has hosted a vast array of events, requiring diverse accommodation and the Centre has successfully made each one a unique intimate affair. Starting last November, when Vicki Dobbs opened the shop with her infamous drum and rattle making workshops, the room was transformed into a tanning room, echoing the voice of wet elk skin slapping against the tables while we were guided through a process which deepened the meaning of our craft.
In February, the Centre hosted aeromatherapy and soundhealing workshops. The acoustics on Washington Street with its traffic was softened by our drumming, rattling and toneing. The Centre boasts scents of sage, mugwort and moldavite, an esape from the busy traffic in downtown Petaluma. The cushioned reading area with its rich reference library is the perfect place for practitioners during their lunch break, or a sacred space to meditate or just be.
There are many budding practitioners in Petaluma, thanks to the eclectic choice of holistic educational institutions in the City. Many are still studying, but beginning to bring their new skill out into the world. The Centre will serve as a learning space for them and a place where they can bring their new clients. A circle of support for these beginners is available at the Centre for professional advice, spiritual guidance and technique discussion.
The financial arrangements between the Centre and practitioners and students will be discussed on a case by case basis. “I want to listen to each person and hear their intent and plan before I determine what the Centre will take for the space. Eventually, a schedule of fees will be set once the roster begins to fill.
In October, events include a session with author, massage therapist and archangel channeler Shanta Gabriel. Her new book,The Gabriel Messages, will be published in the Spring, however, she will preview her new work, along with an introduction to her angel cards and Archangel Gabriels messages.
Also, on the Calendar, Lisa Osina and Michelle Gardner will host a Power Deck reading workshop. This day will be committed to teaching the cards to card readers and providing readings to those interested. The demonstration will be centered around current world events and Michelle and I will demonstrate how to read the energy of a situation through the Power Deck.
The Centre is open by appointment and by event during the week and is open for general business on at the weekend. Interested parties are encouraged to call Lisa Osina at 415.601.2572. A full calendar of events and menu of services is available on the new website www.merkaz-or.com or check the display window at the shop for the latest news.
